Knights May Land The Most Sought-After Young Gun In The Game
Seven clubs have been reportedly chasing the rookie.
It's been reported by the Daily Telegraph that hot-commodity Kalyn Ponga has been in Newcastle over the weekend to hold talks with Knights bosses.
While still contracted to the Cowboys for 2017, the Knights will be able to offer him something North Queensland can't: a permanent spot at fullback.
With Lachlan Coote well entrenched in the Cowboys side, it's very unlikely that he would be moved on to make space for Ponga.
It's been well reported that the Cowboys prodigy is attracting a lot of attention, with seven clubs reportedly showing an interest in the young gun who's only played two first grade games.
Furthermore, there was talk a few weeks ago that Ponga was seeking a big bucks deal, into the seven figures and long term.
With 20 Knights players reportedly off-contract next year, this should free up some salary cap space to bargain with.
