Brisbane Broncos Sack Coach Ivan Henjak Post by: Mase 21 February, 2011 - 6:04 PM

Brisbane Broncos sack coach Ivan Henjak two seasons before his contract is up.

The Brisbane Broncos have sacked long time coach, Ivan Henjak two seasons before his contract was up.

It’s believed his failure to take the Broncos to the finals in 2010, as well as strained relationships with his players were the cause of Henjak's sudden dismissal.

Triple M's Ben Ikin gave his take on the story as the Broncos head into the 2011 NRL season.

“It’s hard to say," Ikin said. "If Ivan was on thin ground and wasn’t coping with the pressure of the stories that were out there floating around in the rugby league community, it could have affected his coaching.”

“Keeping him around might have proven to be the wrong move ... if Ivan Henjak was in there, and ticking all the boxes and (I guess) coaching the way the board wanted him to coach then he’d still be around”.

Ikin’s predicts Henjak’s shoes will be filled by assistant coach Anthony Griffin or NRL coaching legend Wayne Bennett.

“You only have to pick up a paper to read a story about the Broncos supposedly going after Wayne Bennet to bring home."

Who do you think will take Henjak’s place?
