Former Wallaby Greg 'Marto' Martin's doesn't often have a good thing to say about Kiwis but he has declared the All Blacks rugby world cup victory as the 'pushing over of the Berlin Wall for New Zealand'.

His comments come as millions of Kiwis, exactly 4.8 million in New Zealand alone, celebrate the ending of a rugby world cup winning drought with a hard-fought victory over the French.

Describing the game as "seminal", The Grill Team's Marto said the 80-minute encounter was "enormous" despite it being the lowest scoring final ever, 8-7.

The score line could have been so different with both sides missing kicks, Piri Weepu missing 8 points and even doing a 'Quade' and kicking the ball out on the full with the first kick of the game.

"We're still proud of him", said Piri Weepu's wife with the All Blacks half back himself saying the victory was like "icing on the cake".
