Former Wallaby Tips Australia To Beat All Blacks In Sydney's Bledisloe
Former Wallaby Greg Martin tips Wallabies to beat All Blacks in the first Bledisloe Cup action this Sunday.
Former Wallaby Greg Martin tips the Wallabies to beat All Blacks in the first Bledisloe Cup action this Saturday.
"The All Blacks are always good for 20 points - two converted tries and two penalties, so I'm predicting we'll get 25. Final score Wallabies 25-20," Martin told Triple M Brisbane.
"I'm nervous when I look at the two lineups and remember that the All Blacks won the Cup without Dan Carter," Marto said.
"But then I remember the first 40 minutes at Suncorp and it's raw ferocity and think it's very possible to beat them again."
However history may tell another story with the recently-returned-from-retirement Nathan Sharpe, the only current Wallaby to have held the Bledisloe Cup aloft.
"Every world cup winning team except England have been almost unbeatable for the next two years after winning a World Cup," Marto added.
Greg Martin wasn't sure about Robbie Deans' selections for the first Bledisloe game.
Quade Cooper "appears to be a victim of Robbie Deans recurring World Cup semi-final nightmares" when Cooper had what many described as a "shocker" against the Kiwis.
The selection of "two non-ball playing centres indicates that defence is the uppermost thought for the Wallabies."
The Fox Sports host agrees with David Pocock who told Triple M his first game against the Kiwis as captain is going to be huge.
"We must start well because you can't chase the scoreboard against them as it loads too much pressure and you come apart further," Marto said of the Wallabies tactics.
