Cat's eyes

January 1, 2009

A British cat has become the first feline to be fitted with contact lenses.

Ernest - a 15-year-old black and white cat - wears the visual aids after a medical condition which affects his eyesight left him unable to see clearly.

The moggy - who has lived at the RSPCA rescue centre in Godshill, Isle of Wight for 13 years - suffers from entropion which causes an inward rolling of the eyes and inflammation.

An operation to correct it could have killed him.

Centre manager Paula Sadler, 56, said: "Before Ernest was given the contact lenses he was quite squinty and had trouble seeing where he was going.

"Now his eyes have opened up and he has a new lease of life. The lenses have worked wonders."

Weird Video of the Week

Like Boxing Day here in Australia, the day after Thanksgiving is shopping day! Except this poor girl enjoyed herself a bit too much the night before.
