AC/DC Are Home Post by: Eddie Ruckus 8 February, 2010 - 8:17 AM

They’re here, they’re here, they’re here (see the video above)!!!

Can you believe it? Only three more sleeps now until the almighty Acca Dacca kick off their Australian tour at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium this Thursday.

And, as you would expect of a city that has a street named after the band, Melbourne is going all out to make AC/DC – and all their fans – feel like they’ve come home.

There are two Acca Dacca exhibitions running in Melbourne at the moment. One sees AC/DC Lane in the heart of the city transformed into a shrine in honour of the band.

Meanwhile, a few streets away, the Victoria Arts Centre is exhibiting “AC/DC Australia’s Family Jewels”, which includes priceless pieces such as Bon Scott’s leather jacket and two of Angus’s classic school uniforms.

Over the weekend, Angus and the band’s “new” singer Brian Johnson made a brief appearance in front of the media in Sydney, behaving more like Laurel & Hardy than members of the world’s biggest hard rock act.

The guys messed around for photographers and answered a couple of questions. Like, for instance, why do they require three huge oxygen tanks with masks backstage at every show? Is it for some weird cryogenic ritual to keep Angus pumping for each gig? Or has it got more to do with the 15 big glass ashtrays they also demand backstage?

“We usually carry those [the oxygen tanks] just in case,” Johnson explained. “Some of the gigs we’ve been doing have been 100 degrees on the stage and there is no air in the place so you gotta usually get back and take a couple of gulps.”

Whatever it takes, boys. Whatever it takes!

Tell us, which shows are you going to, and what are your plans for concert day?

Dave Evans got thrown out of the band cuz he wanted to take AC/DC down the Bay City Rollers, Sherbet track, big hair, pop rock, tranny look. He was never going to work. Brian Johnson would chew him up and spit him out. Terrible comment markarse.

I'm attending the concerts on the 18th and the 21st Feb in Sydney. Can't wait. I took my dad in 2001 and my dad took me to my first concert in 1996. My dad saw them play in 1975 at Newcastle Civic Theatre so AC/DC has been very special in both our lives.

We are going to the Feb 13th show, not too much planned for the day, too pumped. However, we will rock out with the boys during the show, then we get a room and keep on rockin'!!! In true AC/DC style.

Hi Acca fans, so wish I could be there Thursday for their up coming shows. I got to see them there 3x in 1996 & 3x in 2001 (also 2x in Sydney) so I am excited to know what it's like to be upclose at their shows in Melb, (amazing) truly special for all! I'm from Seattle, with over 2,000 badge collection on one jacket, hard to miss me when I wear my ACCA DACCA badges (23 lbs). Hope everyone going has a blast, lucky fans! Would love to see some footage & photos of before, during & after each show. Thanks AC/DC for keeping your HIGH VOLTAGE going! Cheers... Josh

Hi AC/DC fans - this will be my 4th concert and those who are doing their first show will have the time of their lives.

These guys are truly amazing, special rockers who are not to be missed.

I've been a fan as long as I can remember and I'm so glad our 9 year old son loves AC/DC also!

As he says "I WANNA BE A ROCKIN ROLL SINGER" - hopefully this won't be his first and last time he sees them (want to take our 3 year old when he's older of course) - that's a hint AC/DC don't stop rockin" unless the knees start poppin'!

Next Tuesday is going to be another amazing night for me and a very special one for our son - c u there!
