ARIAs’ Greatest Moment Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 26 November, 2009 - 7:48 AM

So, who’ll be watching the ARIAs tonight?

Must say, it’s a little bit of a concern that the most hyped thing about this year’s Australian music awards is a performance by Robbie Williams. But hey, it’s just an awards show, right? Jessica Mauboy got the most nominations, for God’s sake.

So no, there won’t be much rockin’ going on at tonight’s show, which makes us a little nostalgic for the great rock moments of previous ARIAs.

The best moment ever? Our vote would have to go to Silverchair’s unforgettable comeback performance in 2002 when Daniel Johns basically got off his deathbed to deliver an absolute killer version on “The Greatest View”.

Will there be a similarly awesome moment tonight? Let’s hope so.

As for the awards that matter, we’re betting it will be pretty much an Empire Of The Sun whitewash. You can virtually bet your house on the fact that they’ll take out album of the year for Walking On A Dream, along with a bunch of other awards, including best group.

But who will take out rock album of the year? Eskimo Joe? Jet? Our money is on AC/DC taking out their first ever ARIA Award for Black Ice. Anyone disagree?

So, you’ll be watching tonight? Do the ARIAs matter?

I watched the ARIAs but found it to be pretty boring - no real grunt or rock.

The sound was shocking may have been good there but on my TV it was pretty awful.

Maybe Silverchair or Jet or a good rock n roll band need to be considered. All in all not worth much.

The Arias are better live than what they are shown on TV.. Robbie was the highlight of course. Empire of the Sun's performance was also fantastic.
