Chisel - Together Again
Jimmy Barnes talks to Home Brew's Chit Chat about getting the band back together for their one-off reunion show for the V8 supercars.
Cold Chisel Reunion
Jimmy Barnes reveals all about the Cold Chisel reunion.
See, the rumours were all true – Cold Chisel are back! At least for one huge gig, although you have to figure they’ll be doing at least a few warm-ups as well.
It was the team from The Cage, Triple M’s breakfast crew in Brisbane, that got the jump on the biggest story in Oz rock when they cornered Jimmy Barnes yesterday morning.
Asking Barnsey straight up about rumours that the Chis would be back to play a one-off gig as part of the V8 motor race around Sydney’s Olympic Park in early December, Barnesy suddenly found himself at a loss for words.
“Ahh, I can’t tell you about that,” the singer said, bringing about huge cheers of “gotcha” from The Cage. “Hang on, wait a sec,” Barnsey continued. “There is a whisper – it could become a roar. Let’s just say that you’re the first person to corner me and ask me about it and I’m not really allowed to say anything, so does that mean anything to you?”
The reason Barnsey couldn’t say any more was that Channel Seven’s Today Tonight show had been promoting their secret “exclusive” all week about a news story that would rock the Australian entertainment industry.
All five members of Cold Chisel came together yesterday in Sydney afternoon for a photo op and to officially announce the reunion, which will take place on December 5 at Olympic Park, the night before the big race.
It will be their first show together since a one-off benefit gig in Melbourne in 2005.
Their support acts for the night will be Grinspoon and The Living End. A night earlier, another concert will feature Sneaky Sound System, The Presets and The Potbelleez.
It’s obviously been a huge week for Barnsey in particular with his latest album, The Rhythm and The Blues, debuting at the top of the ARIA charts, making it his ninth solo chart-topper.

Anywhere in NZ - they used to tour over here all the time. The Living End are a great Oz act too, well nearly as good as our own Shihad.
