GN’R Covers AC/DC Post by: Eddie Ruckus 15 February, 2010 - 7:42 AM
If you can’t get to an Acca Dacca show over the next couple of weeks, maybe a really good cover band is the next best thing. Or maybe not.
Axl Rose and what’s left of his once almighty Guns N Roses have gone all old-school and started covering one of Axl’s favourite all-time tracks in their recent concerts.
Axl and his mates have taken to tackling AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie” in their gigs.
This is nothing new – the song was a staple of GN'R’s early gigs way back in the mid-’80s. Now, after a long rest, it’s been revived during the band’s recent tour through South Asia and Canada.
Sounds okay, I guess, but just doesn’t feel quite right without a huge inflatable doll.
Meanwhile, Axl revisited one of his old haunts late last week, with GN'R playing an acoustic gig as part of New York’s Fashion Week at the site of the famous old CBGB venue, a long-gone club where the original GN'R cut its teeth.
Acoustic? Fashion week? Arrrgh, what’s happening?
What do you think of GN’R’s “Whole Lotta Rosie”?

Axl, Axl, Axl, very average me thinks. Not like their killer version of Rose Tattoo's "Nice Boys" from their Lies EP from about 20 years ago.
"Ah the good old days".

Your expecting people to leave feedback based on 19 seconds of a song.
Go to Youtube and listen to the whole song, it kicks some major ass. Axl can still hold his head high like AC/DC and still be regarded as playing what we love best and that's good old RNFNR.. Peace..

I'm sorry but this is just horrible. What happened to Axl's voice.
I remember watching him and the band do this song in '88 and it was GOLD!
Now it's just a screeching mess.

This story would be more credible if we actually played some songs off the new GN'R album.
