Green Day Back In The Studio Post by: Eddie Ruckus 19 March, 2010 - 7:38 AM
Fresh from partying with Iggy Pop at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this week, Green Day have revealed they’ve quietly been getting on with the business of creating a follow-up to 21st Century Breakdown.
We’ve hardly heard a peep out of Green Day since they wowed us with their live shows late last year, and now we know why – they’ve been locked up in various studios across Europe working on new demos.
“We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam,” Billy Joe Armstrong revealed to the UK’s Kerrang! magazine this week. “We wanted to get the new songs down in some early form.”
Armstrong added that there’s no way he wants to take another five years to make a new record like last time around.
Meanwhile, the musical version of American Idiot opens on Broadway next week [can you believe it?]. There’s a month worth of preview performances starting from next Wednesday night ahead of the official premiere on April 20.
The band hit the road again at the end of May for another European tour, while Green Day Rock Band is out June 8.
Are you expecting bigger and better things from Green Day … or another Broadway musical?
