If you didn’t manage to find all the pieces of the Backspacer cover art yesterday, then you missed out on hearing yet another new Pearl Jam song, “Speed Of Sound”.
But don’t you worry, you lazy bastards, because we did all the work for you and here it is! Just click above to listen.
The song is a beautiful ballad, which Rolling Stone magazine is already comparing to previous PJ songs like “Off He Goes” and “Thumbing My Way”.
This isn’t actually the version which will be appearing on Backspacer when it’s released on September 20. This recording, believe it or not, is just a demo.
Eddie Vedder actually previewed “Speed Of Sound” during his recent solo tour through the US, along with two other Backspacer tracks, “Unthought Known” and the album’s closing song, “The End”.
What do you think of “Speed Of Sound”?
Pearl Jam are coming to Australia to make some serious noise. Get all your details here.
This is vintage Eddie Vedder - a great return to form from the kings of grunge.
Very nice, very nice. Probably not as radio friendly as 'The Fixer' but certainly better than the Coldplay namesake! Most bands would kill for a ballad like this to punctuate an album...
Love those Vedder vocals and excellent PJ sounds.
Oh please!!! Coldplay are so yesterday and totally lame. They don't even compare - Pearl Jam has Neil Finn onstage as a guest, Coldplay John Farnham - says it all!

Wow.. l just love the vocals on this song! It will be interesting to see how the finished product is with the rest of the band on this song. This is bloody great for a demo! There is no comparing to Coldplay. Can't wait!!!
Brilliant! Vedder is such a great vocalist. Cannot wait for the album and tour.
I am apparently one of the only people who isn't excited about this dreary tune, and I am a huge pearl jam fan.
It is very Into the Wild. Obviously won't be a single, but this song grows on you.

Glen, the tickets you bought cost you an extra $30 per ticket, and while Showbiz is legit, you would have had no problems getting GA tix through Ticketek.
Showbiz buy the tix from Ticketek and then on-sell them, which you bought today. Either way, you are seeing PJ!!!
