Introducing The New Chili Pepper Post by: Eddie Ruckus 1 February, 2010 - 6:00 AM
It was only one song – and it wasn’t even a RHCP song – but it was enough to suggest the Chili Peppers have chosen well in their replacement for former fair-weather guitarist, John “I-don’t-know-if-I-really-want-to-be-in-this-band-or-not” Frusciante.
The new man is Josh Klinghoffer. Of course, Klinghoffer is no stranger in the RHCP camp. He travelled the world with the band during their last Stadium Arcadium world tour, playing back-up guitar.
The new guy is also best mates with the old guy. Klinghoffer and Frusciante have worked on countless studio projects together over the years.
Klinghoffer’s debut appearance as an official member of the Chili Peppers took place in Los Angeles over the weekend, at the MusicCares 2010 Person of the Year charity event.
An all-star line-up of acts each took turns in covering a song by this year’s guest of honour, Neil Young.
The new RHCP delivered a psychedelic version of a track called “A Man Needs A Maid” [I hear ya, brother!] from Young’s classic 1972 album, Harvest.
The new Peppers’ line-up has been working away in a studio since last October with a new album due later this year.
What do you think of the new Chili Peppers?
