INXS Dance Version Of Original Sin With Rob Thomas Hits The US Charts Post by: Dave-O 16 May, 2011 - 9:31 AM
The idea of INXS getting different singers to cover their best-known songs was always going to be a risky move, but it's paid off in the US with their version of "Original Sin" now number #5 on the Billboard Dance Charts this week and the third most added song to College Radio.
As you can hear in the video above INXS invited Rob Thomas and Cuban friend DJ Yaleidys to give the INXS classic a distinct dance-floor flavour.
"If I was in a band doing a cover of it I wouldn't do my own version of it, I would do this version of it," said Rob Thomas.
The recording session featuring Rob Thomas was done in secret at a Sydney location two years ago and amazingly what you're seeing in the video above is Rob having just got off the plane after flying in from the US and going straight into the studio. He was jet-lagged, he was tired, but he still gave it everything he had.
"You could see how much it meant to Rob to be in the studio. And he was genuinely passionate," said INXS' Jon Farriss.
Two years in the making, Original Sin revisits all their best-loved tracks with the help of stars like Ben Harper, Rob Thomas, on-again, off-again singer JD Fortune and more.
INXS Original Sin is out now and available to purchase on iTunes.
What do you think of this new version of "Original Sin"?

Yeah, great idea boys... take a great song like Original Sin and create something truly terrible out of it. You have outdone yourselves yet again it the wanker stakes.

Way to piss on Hutchence grave by having someone as terrible as Rob Thomas singing one of his songs! Disgusted!

JD sings it as close as possible to the original track. I have nothing against Rob Thomas. I love he original scores.
His collaboration with santana was good. But not Original Sin. Sorry RT. -

Another dance version of Original Sin? Nothing new here then. Ian Greens version is better as it has MH on vocals....

Wow... i've never heard such a disgraceful take on an amazing song. Not only is it a dance remix of a classic but ROB THOMAS!!?? I thought INXS had some credibility left... Clearly that died when Michael did
