INXS, JD Fortune Reunite Post by: Eddie Ruckus 16 February, 2010 - 6:53 AM

To all you JD Fortune fans who have written in over the past few weeks saying there will only ever be one true successor to Michael Hutchence, well, against all odds, your prayers are being answered.

INXS have announced they are inviting JD Fortune back into the fold next week for special one-off concert at the winter Olympic Games in Canada. JD, of course, is a Canadian native.

But JD better not get too comfortable behind the mic. In the band’s Twitter announcement regarding the reunion, it was made very clear that the singer will only be making “a special guest appearance at the show”.

There was a different wording on JD’s site, where the announcement read: “We are pleased to officially announce that JD Fortune will perform with INXS as lead singer for the band’s sold-out concert.”

A spokesperson for INXS reconfirmed yesterday that other singers are being considered for any future touring.

Still, it’s a long way from a year back when JD went crying to the international media that the band had simply dumped him at the airport at the end of their Switched On world tour and that he was back to living in his car.

Well, JD, I wouldn’t go putting down a deposit on a penthouse just yet.

INXS’s sold-out Olympic show takes place at the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver on February 24.

Do you think the INXS/Fortune reunion will be great or a little uncomfortable?

It will be great... great for all us JD fans, we've been waiting a long time to see JD back with INXS... and I think he'll tour with them as well... they haven't been able to find anyone better, or with as much charisma as JD Fortune, he's back !!

Yes! JD and INXS at the Olympics together again! I knew it would happen and if INXS is smart, they will make it permanent. No guest singers please, not interested!

Great news, hope they have him back permanently, they need to keep a stable line up to move forward or they need to call it a day, they can't keep changing lead singers like dirty socks. JD Must Stay!!

Couldn't agree more. JD gave INXS a modern edge that they can't and couldn't find anywhere else.

Rob Thomas.... mmmm.... Na. JD needs to get on his knees and pray this is his second chance.

INXS need to wake up and use him full-time or give up the gig. OK, so he takes drugs and is a bit narcissistic, but what lead singer isn't?

Australian music needs a great, viable INXS and this is they're chance. Don't blow it this time!!

The comments above are clearly JD Fortune fans not INXS fans. Don't get me wrong I think he does a good job with the band, but you guys are kidding yourselves if you think INXS is wasting their time without him.

Let me remind you that these 5 blokes have sold 40million albums and were simply the biggest band in the world for a period spanning years, not to mention one of the greatest live bands of all time.

If any future success is so reliant on JD Fortune then maybe JD should have a crack at a solo career.... oh yeah he did that and the album was useless, hardly saw the light of day.

Whoever they have singing the vast majority of people will be there to see the band regardless of who is singing.

I was at the Rob Thomas gig at Acer Arena last night which in itself was great... but then when he sent his band off stage and brought on INXS... wow the place went off!!!

Clearly they were having fun and Rob suits the style of music. But they do need a proper permanant frontman.

Anyway Rob had his go with them and it was AWESOME!!!!

    Couldn't disagree more.
I am a huge fan of INXS. Have been for years.
When I first saw the Rockstar show I was concerned. Who could replace Hutch? JD brought his unique style and energy to the new songs and back catalogue. He loves the songs and it shows when you see them live.
INXS was comfortable playing behind him.
    JD belongs with INXS.
I wouldn't cross the street to go see INXS without him. To me it will be some kind of cheesy tribute band.
I would pay money and lots of it to see INXS with their proper frontman.
I think Murphy is a dick but he`s a shrewd business guy. JD is/was/will be good for business.

At least JD is a local Canadian so there will be no leaving him at the airport this time. Maybe he'll be found with a "work wanted" sign at a taxi rank.
