Jet’s Mighty Comeback Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 8 December, 2009 - 7:56 AM

It’s been a busy but mighty return home for Jet over the past week, opening up for Green Day in Perth and Adelaide and then almost stealing the show at Sydney’s Homebake on Saturday with an electrifying set as the sun went down.

Needless to say, it’s a very different Jet these days compared to the messy rockers of a couple of years back.

Their latest album, Shaka Rock, is a serious return to form after quite a lacklustre second album, Shine On.

When our own Byron Cooke caught up with Nic Cester and Cam Muncey backstage at Homebake, the guys explained that the quality of their work probably has a lot to do with the fact that they’ve cleaned up their act in more ways than one.

“We’ve made a conscious effort this time not to be so loose,” laughed Cester, admitting the group has given up its drug-fuelled ways of old.

So, how do they get off these days?

“Bit of Scrabble after the show,” revealed the singer.

Well, keep racking up those titles and triple-word scores, boys.

Jet have still got a bunch of shows with Green Day around the country over the next week [Brisbane tonight] and then will be back in town next month as one of the headliners of the Big Day Out tour.

Have you seen Jet perform in the past week? Whatya reckon?

I saw the guys in Brisbane with Green Day last nite.... AWESOME! They started off with "Rip It Up" and didn't let up thru the whole set! High powered and the PERFECT opener to Green Day!

The crowd were going off well and truly and Jet are well and truly on the brink of something BIG now they've toured with Green Day!

Hey... why don't Jet and Green Day work on a collaboration of bands for a one off song with their unique vocal ranges? Wouldn't that be fantastic?

Remember the U2/ Green Day collaboration and also the Iggy Pop/ Jet one? Bring it on!
