Pearl Jam Play Dress-Ups Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 4 November, 2009 - 7:39 AM
Pearl Jam capped off a weird and wonderful weekend of unique live shows around the world by donning their favourite red flower pots and yellow lab coats and paying homage to new wave wackos, Devo.
It wasn’t the only thing that made PJ’s Halloween night gig in Philadelphia unique. The band’s statisticians are ranking it as one of the longest Pearl Jam shows of all time, with a setlist featuring 40 songs, including covers of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” and Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World”, not to mention Devo’s “Whip It”.
Meanwhile, over in the UK, Green Day went from a sold-out show at Wembley Stadium to a tiny club in London to perform a two-hour gig as their alter-ego outfit, garage band Foxboro Hot Tubs.
The Tubs played their debut album [2008’s Stop, Drop and Roll] in its entirety, including performing the title track SIX times!!!
Back in New York, the two all-star Hall Of Fame shows at Madison Square Garden saw some genuinely unique collaborations, including Mick Jagger joining U2 and the Black-Eyed Peas on stage for versions of U2’s “Stuck In As Moment” and The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter”. Highlights from the shows will be screened on US TV at the end of the month.
How funny are Pearl Jam? [Who would have thought!] What’s the weirdest concert moment you’ve ever experienced?
