Noel Gallagher headlined his first ever show with his new band in Australia last night before a sold-out crowd at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney and he didn't disappoint.

The UK singer-songwriter debuted his new outfit Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and played a terrific set of tunes featuring a nice mix of tracks from his self-titled debut album and, yes, a lot of songs from his old band Oasis.

Triple M's Becko said the combination of seeing such a legend play great songs in a small venue made it a night to remember.

"It was a brilliant gig," he raved after the show. "It was a real treat to see Noel in such an intimate venue."

""If I Had A Gun" will be the next single," he predicted. "Plus Noel's versions of [the Oasis classics] "Wonderwall" and "Supersonic" were total highlights. Noice one brutha!"

While Triple M's LoveRod added: "Loved the show, Oasis covers sent the crowd nuts. It was Brit Central at the Enmore."

Besides the great songs there were some funny moments as well including a bit of banter between Noel and a fellow in the crowd who had a tattoo of Noel's autograph on his arm.

All in all, a brilliant show.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds do another headlining show next week in Melbourne and he is also here, of course, as part of the Big Day Out.
