Richard Ashcroft, best known for such classics as "Bitter Sweet Symphony" with his band The Verve, stormed off stage tonight at the Splendour In The Grass festival in Australia.
Ashcroft, dressed in a hoodie, brown leather jacket and low slung jeans, didn't even get through the first song before he threw his tambourine at the speaker, the microphone across stage and then topped it off by jumping off stage and down into the crowd.
The only thing Ashcroft said when he introduced himself to the 5000 fans in attendance was "welcome to our little patch", which may have been a dig that he wasn't happy playing on one of the smaller outer stages.
"He got the s**ts because there weren't any spectators," said Splendour In The Grass security. "And then he jumped straight into a car and drove off site."
A Splendour announcement soon after the show stated: "Please don't take your aggression out on us. Richard had an unfortunate incident and had to cancel the show."
That's not to say all British acts were a flop at the festival. Goldfrapp was amazing, while Florence And The Machine totally owned the main stage the previous night.
