Rob Thomas Is Not Cool Post by: Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 13 October, 2009 - 6:41 AM
Rob Thomas has admitted something most of us have known for some time – he might be hugely successful but he sure ain’t cool.
While his latest solo album Cradlesongs has proven another massive hit around the world, Thomas has had to increasingly defend himself against claims that he’s probably moved on a bit from Matchbox 20’s original youthful audience.
“Rob Thomas will never, ever be cool,” Rolling Stone magazine said in their four-star review of Cradlesongs. “Is it okay to like Rob Thomas?” MTV recently asked, while New York magazine labeled him a "mom-rocker".
Not that Thomas himself really has a problem with any of it.
“I’m 37 – I’m a mom age,” Thomas told The Canadian Press. “All that really means is I’m making music for people my own age. I’m okay with that. If I was 37 and I was making music for teenagers, I would be a little upset. So I’ll take mom-rock I guess. I’m okay with that.”
Thomas added that he’s got it a lot better than, say, his mates Nickelback, who now refuse to do press interviews because of the constant ridicule they cop. [Hey, we didn’t know Nickelback read our blog! Hi, Chad!]
Of course, Rob Thomas returns to Australia next February for a national tour which includes several winery shows. Your mom will love it!
Who is more uncool – Rob Thomas or Nickelback? Is there someone else who is even more uncool?

Kal says
Rob Thomas is a thousand times cooler than Nickelback because he doesn't care about being cool. That, my friends, is the ultimate cool attitude!
