Sound Relief For Queensland Floods Post by: Dave-O 11 January, 2011 - 4:39 PM

The team that brought us Sound Relief are back together to do a concert to raise funds for the Queensland floods appeal.

According to the Music Network promoter Michael Gudinski is organising a second Sound Relief concert that will mirror the benefit concerts of 2009, which saw the industry and musicians (like Coldplay pictured above) raise $8 million for the victims of the Victorian bushfires and went on to become the biggest concert Australia had ever seen.

Speculation has been rife on which acts will perform with everyone looking at who's in the country over the next couple of months (there's Cold Chisel, Kings Of Leon and Katy Perry to name a few).

Queensland MP Rob Messenger has begged Powderfinger to come out of retirement to play the benefit show.

“This is a once-in-hundred-year natural disaster, Powderfinger is Queensland music… Queensland needs them right now," he said on ABC Radio.

This is a really good idea, considering how much money was raised for this cause last time. I was there for the 1st sound relief and i'll be there this time as well, to support the victims of this tragic event. My family was a part of this which makes it a lot sadder.
