"21 Guns" New Version
A full-on weekend of rock right across Australia officially welcomed in the long, hot summer ahead.
Green Day kicked off festivities in Perth on Friday night with a sell-out show at the Burswood Dome after a relaxing week spent enjoying all the best the West has to offer, including a fun-filled night at Perth’s world-renowned lesbian mud-wrestling at Connections nightclub.
The trio were in Adelaide last night where show highlights of the two-hour gig included a young little punk from the audience getting pulled up on stage and baptised by Billy Joe Armstrong during “East Jesus Nowhere”.
The show coincided with the release of the new “cast” version of “21 Guns” [listen above].
It’s Brisbane’s turn next, followed by Sydney at the end of the week and Melbourne at the start of next week.
Meanwhile in Sydney over the weekend, two massive shows of slightly different intensity.
Over in the Domain on Saturday, it was the annual Homebake festival, where a day of local entertainment was capped off by Powderfinger’s awesome comeback performance.
At the same time over at the old Olympic Park stadium, the much-hyped return of Cold Chisel didn’t disappoint any of the 50,000 fans who packed the stadium.
Bizarrely, it turned out to be the biggest show the Chis has ever played, and they were in vintage form.
Did you attend any of the gigs over the weekend? What was the highlight?

Green Day in Brisbane was AWESOME!!! Jet got the place started with a fantastic high powered set, then Green Day went off and brought the house down!!!
The middle part of their set was INCREDIBLE with a medley of old songs, like J.O.K's "Shout" , Beatles and Led Zeppelin, and the highlight for me was AC/DC's "Highway To Hell". Billy Joe TOTALLY owned it!
Never heard such a good cover of it since Bon Scott's original version!!! What a nite!!! A must see concert!!!
