Top 5 Pearl Jam Songs Of All Time Post by: Music 25 March, 2009 - 3:08 PM

In 1991 grunge swept the nation and suddenly our idols were singers too lazy to shampoo and who wore flannel shirts as fashion statements. Still these dudes put out some ripper albums.

Their debut album, Ten was all killer and has stood the test of time with songs like 'Alive' becoming anthems of a generation. Since then they've done nine studio albums - some have been hits, some haven't, but they've always grabbed your attention.

Their latest song is 'The Fixer', the first single from their new album Backspacer.

To celebrate this event we've listed the Top 5 Pearl Jam songs ever. We're sure this will start a fight or two, but we're up for it!

1. Alive
2. Better Man
3. Given To Fly
4. Daughter
5. Rearviewmirror

Way off. You've only picked singles or songs that got flogged on the radio. Listen to their albums and see their live sets and you'll find the list looking like this.

    1. Corduroy
    2. Yellow Ledbetter
    3. I Got Id
    4. Even Flow
    5. Betterman

PJ are a true album band and usually singles are chosen by music execs with little or no idea of what the band is about.

I'm not sure I agree with you Warnesie.

Yep, those singles are radio-friendly - but they're still awesome songs... i remember seeing them at eastern Creek, Sydney, and when they played 'Daughter' the crowd really came alive.

What about 'Black' from the Ten album - that's their best song ever.

Hi Dave - yep no doubt the crowd loves these songs - and I'm cool with that.

I guess I wish that people would explore albums more as sometimes the real gems are not the singles. I think my 5 picks reflect PJ better than the singles do - while others don't.

That's cool, it's all about personal choice. Interested to see your 5 picks my man.

Nice to see some folks here who know what PJ is all about! Some excellent choices here and not all of them get airplay.

    Like Stevo says Triple M...
