Triple M Exclusive: Doc Neeson: "I'm Still The Lead Singer Of The Angels" Post by: Dave-O 28 June, 2011 - 9:54 AM
With the hype this week surrounding The Angels guitarist Rick Brewster's new outfit, Rick Brewster's Angels Featuring Dave Gleeson hitting the road, we'd like to remind you that the original Angels frontman Doc Neeson will be touring with a little band called Motley Crue.
However, Doc, in an interview with Triple M's Becko, airing next week on Home Brew, reassured Angels fans that while he's doing his solo thing, Dave Gleeson has not replaced him as the singer of The Angels.
"I haven't left The Angels," he said. "The band Rick's got going with Dave Gleeson [is] a Rick Brewster project. I feel sorry for Dave because people are calling it 'Doc Gleeson'," he laughed.
"But for people saying that 'Doc has left and Dave's come in as the new Angels lead singer' that's wrong. I'm still the lead singer of The Angels and when the right gigs come up for The Angels I'll be fronting the band."
Since The Angels finished last year's Dark Room tour both the Brewster Brothers and Doc Neeson have been focused on solo projects.

As you can see in the unofficial fan video above, Rick and John Brewster's new outfit features Chris Bailey and Screaming Jets frontman Dave Gleeson. You can catch them at two pub shows this week in Sydney and Adelaide where they'll be showcasing songs from their debut EP as well as playing Angels classics.
When the the press release first came out saying 'Rick Brewster's Angels', fans were confused as to the status of the band. We asked Doc if he understood why fans would've found that confusing.
"When I was recovering from my car accident, I was calling myself Doc Neeson's Angels and I'd decided that's not a good idea because it's confusing, so I'm just [calling myself] 'Doc Neeson Voice Of The Angels'. And I hope that makes it clearer for people."
As for his upcoming shows with Motley Crue and Bret Michaels in September he said he'll be giving fans a setlist of Angels hits mixed with his solo stuff.
"There will be a bunch of Angels songs in there, that is my heritage. [And] I hope to do songs off another album that I did solo [as] Red Phoenix."

Saw Doc at Notes in Newtown and all I can say is I hope he has a killer band behind him for the Motley show and some killer backup singers if you get my drift.
I'm going to the Crue show and am very interested to see how he stacks up.

Ha! Good luck and the proof will be in the pudding.
I am pumped about seeing Rick Brewster's Angels at the Annandale on Thursday. Nothing beats those rocking guitar riffs and after youtubing Dave's style, can't wait to see him belt it out. That man is an amazing talent!
The new song 'Waiting for the Sun' goes off! Its got the Angels trademark sound. Bring on Dave! *the crowd goes wild*

I have been a huge Angels fan since I was a teenager and they used to be one of the best live acts of the 80's and 90's. Unfortunately the last couple of times I have seen them, Doc has lost that spark and the band wasn't a shadow of their former selves.
With a rocker like Dave Gleeson in the band, I will definitely be going back to see them and I am sure the energy will be back with such a vivacious front man. Go Rick Brewsters Angels.

Doc, are you kidding, I am a huge Angels fan, I have seen you on the last 2 tours in QLD, and at the Mansfield Tavern where you fell over off the stage
Doc, you're one of the greatest, but unfortunately The Angels need a new powerful singer. Gleeson is the man for the job.

If Doc fronts up to the Motley Crue gigs with his solo show he will not last the entire tour. Word on the street is that Doc Neeson will never front the Angels again... at least not with the original band members.
