U2 Back To Work Post by: Eddie Ruckus 25 January, 2010 - 9:20 AM
According to The Edge, he and Bono are on a roll at the moment as they start bashing out tunes for what will be U2’s follow-up to [snore!] No Line On The Horizon.
The guitarist has revealed to Entertainment Weekly in the US that: “We’re working on a lot of new songs. Some of them are really, really happy.
“We’re convinced that we have something really special. It’s like deciding whether we are going to release the album before the tour starts [in June] or leave it for a while, we don’t really know yet. Literally, within a day of getting off the road, Bono and I were working on new songs. On a roll.”
Probably the perfect example of this is the fact that Bono made up the chorus for “Stranded”, the song the pair performed on the Haiti benefit over the weekend, while he was on the phone to the song’s producer, Swizz Beatz.
“Bono started going back and forth with ideas, and he was like, ‘You know this word stranded keeps standing out to me’ and I asked him to sing it,” Beatz told Rolling Stone magazine. “He put me on hold ’cause he’s recording the ideas on a Dictaphone — so he did it there and then on the phone.”
By the way, the Haiti benefit managed to raise an incredible $60 million, and that’s before all the performances from the telethon were made available for purchase via iTunes.
Do you think U2 really have another truly great album left in them?

Yes, U2 do have many great albums in them. They are like fine wine and U2's albums just keep getting better.
Bono & The Edge will always make sure their music will stand the test of time.

Absolutely! I loved their last album. It wasn't their best but there really are some great songs on there.
I saw the 360 Tour in Atlanta and it blew everyone away. They will continue making amazing music for many years to come, I hope!
