VIDEO: Official Trailer For Pearl Jam Twenty Documentary Post by: Dave-O 27 July, 2011 - 1:37 PM
Pearl Jam have just released the official trailer for their new feature-length documentary that comes out in September and it looks awesome.
The doco is called Pearl Jam Twenty, with the grunge legends snaring the services of superstar director and ex-Rolling Stone journo Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous) to capture Pearl Jam's 20-year journey from their early days to their rise as stadium superstars.
As you can see in the official trailer above, supplied by their record company Sony, it's an awesome flick that includes some kick-ass never-before-seen footage.
“We put so much into the film – moments, pieces of footage shot by band members, audio snippets, visual bursts, new and old interviews – many different formats, all meant to present an emotional scrapbook of what it felt like to be a member of the band on this twenty-year journey,” said Cameron Crowe.
“The richness of the footage made our path very clear – just tell the story of the band and let the music guide us. It was a joy to make this film, and we’re thrilled share it with the fans.”
He admitted there were challenges to filming a band like Pearl Jam who are notorious for being camera shy, but that makes the doco even more special. "Pearl Jam are not prone to opening the curtain the same way, and that is the challenge and delight of it," he told Rolling Stone magazine in an earlier interview.

There will also be a Pearl Jam Twenty soundtrack (out Sept 16) with songs personally selected by Cameron Crowe and the Pearl Jam Twenty book (out Sept 13) which chronicles the band's past two decades.
