Can you believe that this year marks the 20th year that Pearl Jam have been together rocking all over the world? Incredible, huh.

To celebrate Pearl Jam is releasing a massive feature-length documentary called Pearl Jam Twenty. Enlisting the services of superstar director and ex-Rolling Stone journo Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Fast Times At Ridgemont High), the film takes you on Pearl Jam's 20-year journey from their early days as Mookie Blaylock to their rise as stadium superstars.

As you can see in the video above, which we secured from YouTube, it's an awesome documentary featuring extremely rare home video from the band's early days.

Cameron Crowe told Rolling Stone that there's plenty to enjoy about the film which has "the best souvenirs of the past, some fabled footage you've heard exists but have never seen, and some interviews".

He admitted there were challenges to filming a band like Pearl Jam who are notorious for being camera shy, but that makes the doco even more special. "Pearl Jam are not prone to opening the curtain the same way, and that is the challenge and delight of it," he said.

There will also be a Pearl Jam Twenty soundtrack in conjunction with the film’s theatrical release with songs personally selected by Cameron Crowe and the Pearl Jam Twenty book which chronicles the band's past two decades.

The documentary Pearl Jam Twenty is due out in September.

  What's this another band releasing a doco about themselves? what next ? It's cool to know about Pearl Jam but I hope it doesn't go to far where every band does it as well.
