A spectacular, albeit sloppy start to U2’s 360° world tour in Spain yesterday.
In an era of lip-synched concerts, if there was ever any doubt about exactly how live a U2 show actually is, watch the video above as the most experienced live band in the world stuff up one of their simplest songs.
Following this performance of "One", one is left with the impression that even after all these years, bad boy Adam Clayton still doesn’t like being told what to do, especially not by a short and pudgy lead singer.
The ecstatic crowd of almost 100,000 Spaniards didn’t seem to mind the odd glitch and opening night nerves.
Initial reviews from the show were mixed, but generally positive. Everyone seemed to complain about the unnecessarily long live link-up with the international space station, while seven songs off No Line On The Horizon is probably four too many.
The reviewer from UK’s The Times newspaper complained that the 50-metre tall “Claw” stage set-up proved an “impediment to intimacy” and “U2 had never seemed so tiny”.
Minor complaints and stuff-ups aside, there were also many moments of pure brilliance in the two-and-a-half hour show, including the first live performances of classics such as “The Unforgettable Fire” and “Ultraviolet” in almost 20 years.
U2 play their second show in Barcelona tonight. Tickets are still available, if you happen to be reading this in Barcelona.
Is that the worst version of "One" you've ever heard?

Wow! That was a train wreck if ever there was one... it just kept getting worse...
Still, it looked like a pretty awesome concert. can't wait until it tours here.
Yeah, the last time they played 'Unforgettable Fire' was on the Rattle & Hum Love Comes To Town tour.
I saw that gig and I can't believe that was 20 years ago!
