“Hear here! The triumphant return of Wolfmother is imminent.” At least that’s what their website tells us.

And it’s right there on their website, www.wolfmother.com, that the reformed former trio – now a four-piece – is giving away their first new recorded song together as a free download. The track is called “Back Round” and – you know what? – it sounds just like the old Wolfmother!

Those new Wolfmother boys have been busy little beavers in the past few weeks. First there was the mammoth Sound Relief event where they played in both Melbourne and Sydney. Then the following weekend they were in Adelaide to play at the big motor race there and last Friday they were in Sydney to perform at the MTV Awards.

Now the band are in Los Angeles where they’re working on their new album with producer Alan Moulder.

Lead afro-head Andrew Stockdale recently said he couldn’t be happier with the way the new line-up is working. “It’s going well with the new guys,” he said. “After the tension I’ve experienced, it’s bizarre to be in another situation where it doesn’t exist. I feel like it’s working – I’m enjoying it and I don’t want to push it too hard. I’m very much looking forward to it – it should be cool.”

Yeah, it’ll be fine, mate – don’t worry your pretty little afro-head about it.
