Silverchair Is Back Post by: Eddie Ruckus 3 February, 2010 - 7:32 AM

We’ve all heard the rumours that Silverchair had been beavering away in the studio, working on a follow-up to Young Modern. Now their return is finally official.

After more than two years away from the limelight, the ’Chair is set to make their concert return, headlining this year’s Groovin the Moo travelling festival.

The Groovin the Moo festival will hit five regional towns [are we allowed to call Canberra regional?] from May 1.

Silverchair last played the festival in 2007. Some of the other acts joining them on this year’s bill include Vampire Weekend, Empire Of The Sun, Grinspoon, British India and Kisschasy.

Tickets for the shows go on sale Tuesday February 16 from Moshtix.com.au and will set you back $95.90 (+booking fee).

MAY

1 – Prince of Wales Showground, Bendigo, VIC
2 – Murray Sports Complex, Townsville, QLD
8 – Maitland Showground, Maitland, NSW
9 – The Meadows, University of Canberra, Canberra, ACT
15 – Pat Usher Foreshore Reserve, Bunbury, WA

Does the return of Silverchair excite you?

oh woopee another boring crappy album that proves danel johns has gone soft.

unless it sounds like frogstomp or freakshow it should be destroyed.

i can't wait for chris & ben to just walk away and make a real band. leave the wuss crap to johns.

Yes Adam you are a complete tool!

Daniel Johns has more musical talent in his left hand thumbnail then you have in your whole body.

To suggest Silverchair has gone soft is a thoughtless comment, bands change and evolve over time or else they become stale and repetitive, just like the Screaming Jets.

Re Silverchair return, I have to agree with Adam to a degree. Silverchair have gone soft. I saw their return concert and it was unbelievable, Johns was playing the guitar with his teeth - AWESOME.

I then went with a big group of friends to the Powderfinger/Silverchair concert telling them that Silverchair would blow Powderfinger off the stage but left embarrassed.

They need to get back to their roots and play the great rock that they are capable of.
