Dave Meets A Legend

Dangerous Dave spoke to one his sporting idols about the sheer excitement of the traditional Boxing Day Test.

Listen to Dave go head to head with Warney.

If Dangerous Dave had a dollar for every time he was asked, 'Hey, how did you get the nick name Dangerous?', he would now have about $634, which isn't really enough to retire on and buy a secluded island in the Pacific.

If the truth be known, he was originally called 'Dave Dastardly', but a law suit from Hana-Barbera, the makers of the much loved 70's cartoon 'The Wacky Races' put an end to that title. So here he is, doing his 'Dangerous' stuff between 9 and 12 in the morning on Triple M Melbourne.

Here's Dave with the much talked about Navara.
Dave loves the Navara as much as he loves the Navara Marathon , non stop music every weekday morning from 9am.

Dave grew up in Ballarat and first got into radio as a volunteer in the late 80's, it was either that or sweep floors at the famous Mars Bar factory. He then landed his first paid radio gig at 2LM on the NSW North Coast in 1992. After escaping a hippy-like-sect devoted to folk music Dave then moved onto Sun FM in Shepparton. Eventually scoring his dream on-air job in the big smoke of Melbourne, followed by a stint in Sydney and then finally back here to his spiritual home, Melbourne.

Being known as 'Dangerous Dave' has its moments, as a teenager with dreams of being a champion footballer, the name used to put the fear of god into the opposition players who lined up against Dave. Sadly, those dreams didn't come to fruition when a local coach told him in 1982 that he would never make the grade because he didn't 'shepherd enough'. That hasn't stopped Dave from yelling his lungs out when ever he gets along to support his beloved Hawks. On the other hand, the nickname doesn't work so well when he's on the guest list at pubs and clubs and bands around town, for some unexplained reason the name makes the security staff very nervous.

These days when 'Dangerous Dave' isn't playing 'stacks of wax' or pumping out the 'wattage from the cottage' he spends time flat on his back on the lounge room floor play-wrestling his two kids Grace & James. So far Dave's radio career highlights include winning the National Radio Award for 'Best Music Personality' and meeting Stan Zemanek in the toilet that same night.
