Is the new umm, errr, night time show here on Triple M Melbourne. Let's face it, it would have been pretty stupid to call it that and then have it on in the morning. If you love 80's music, if you remember the days when EON FM was kicking some radio ass in this city, then you will love this new show.
Peter Grace Your Eon Nights Host
Just call him 'Gracey', everybody else does. Gracey was the first official voice on Australian FM radio when EON FM launched way back in July, 1980. During the next decade Gracey interviewed most of the big names to emerge in music, not only at home but internationally. There were record company junkets to the USA and the UK to talk to bands about heir brand new music offerings, these were eventually turned into radio specials.
'I remember a bizarre encounter with Freddy Mercury who later sent one of his people to ask me if i'd go to the media conference for his solo album and take the piss out of him. The album was called Mr. Wise Guy so they wanted a friendly antagonist to set the mood for some wise guy talk. Freddy wasn't backward in coming forward and I was a bit nervous but after a couple of exchanges I could see he wasn't attacking me with his responses and that was starting to set the rest of the room at ease and pretty soon everybody was joining in. It was a very clever move on his part and it was a very funny media conference'
It's these kinds of stories that will be the basis for EON Nights, so get ready to be flung around in the time machine as we head back to the future of Triple M.
