AC/DC Dominate Rock 500 Post by: Strak 1 February, 2010 - 1:49 PM

It's been run and won. You have spoken. After thousands of votes and one hell of a massive countdown, Triple M listeners voted 'Thunderstruck' as the number one song on the Ultimate Rock 500.

Infact, in an unusal end to the countdown AC/DC took out all top 5 positions in the countdown.'Back In Black', 'It's A Long Way To The Top', 'Highway To Hell' and 'You Shook Me All Night Long' made up the top 5.

In other surprises 'Bohemian Rhapsody' didn't make the top ten and U2's 'Beautiful Day', which was number one in Triple M's 2005 Essential Countdown, didn't even crack the top 20.

AC/DC kick of their Australian 'Black Ice' Tour here in Melbourne on February 11.

Tell us what you thought of the final twist in the countdown?

AC/DC rock. Every song in the top 5 that's just awesome. Can't wait for the show on Feb 11.

'Let There Be Rock' should have been number one. Even 'You Shook Me All Night Long' would have been better choice.

Yes, it doesn't matter if you didn't vote for it. Just like it and don't worry about it.

Terrible, biggest 'free' plug ever......no way is this countdown legit. Look at the last time TripleM did a similar countdown, ACDC only had 1 in top 10, not the top 5.

I agree with Angry, what a load of crap!! if ACDC weren't in town and triple M wasnt giving away tickets to see them, there is noway they would have the top 5 songs!!! The votes have been influenced way to much!

Triple M are right on....who else could fill the top 5 spots (and more) than the best rock band AC/DC...???

If you are giving away ACDC tickets to vote for the top 500, do you think that would influence the vote at all!
interesting that when listeners had to phone vote in TNT vs stairway to heaven for the 10th spot Led Zeppelin got up, yet ACDC have the top 5 spots in countdown. ACDC are a great band but they do not deserve the top 5

Angry obviously isnt a AC/DC fan. You cant call yourself Aussie if you didnt turn the last 5 songs up. It is a legit count as everyone is hanging for them to get here. GO MMM, you guys got it right for a change!!

Enjoyed the countdown but disappointed with the final 5!
One sided or what.....this town is just Thunder Struck by AC/DC or marketing playing a powerful part. The only plus being it was an Aussie Band and not American :)
