Where did that ten years go? For some events it seems like an eternity ago, for others just like yesterday.

As the year comes to a close we want you to help us compile the top 5 stories in a number of news categories. From big sporting events like Cathy Freeman at the Sydney Olympics to the tragedy of this years Black Saturday Bushfires.

We will compile a list of some of the biggest stories that happened and then you can tell us which ones you think had the most impact on our lives.

  I still can't believe that Steve Irwin is no longer with us. My kids just adored him and they still watch some of his DVDs. His passion for what he did was unmatched and i still remember the day I heard the news, thinking it just can't be true.

  The biggest news story of the last decade that affected me the most was the World Trade plane attacks and the Bush Fires from this year. The world seems to be a different place since both of those events happened. All my thoughts go out to people who lost loved ones in those two tragedies.

  i would have to say that the biggest for me would be febuary 7 this year, it was the most horific for me as i had both my parents out fighting with the cfa and i ws at home with my little brother while our home was under attack, but it is also very memorable for the way that this country banded together to show support for everyone that needed so much help.

  the other one for me would have to be september 11 2001 as i wsa in america exactly a year before and i went up the towers and now i cant believe that there not there.

  The second biggest story for me on the past few years would have to be the news that ford are scaling down production in ontario canada and many other places... what great days to be driving a Holden, haha. The biggest story by far was the unfortunate death of Mr Peter Brock on 08-11-06... tragic!
