With the exciting announcement that Dr. Dan - yes, radio's most famous and rocking theme song ever - is making a comeback, we've enlisted the help of one of the world's greatest guitarists to make it sound even better!

That guitarist is Slash! Yes, the same Slash that has been voted the greatest guitarist ever by countless magazines all over the world.

Of course, the promo campaign featuring Dr. Dan - a guitar-wielding satyr with wings - was an icon for us at Triple M in the eighties and the belting guitar riff became an instant classic.

The videos (see the above) featured as advertisements on the telly and were absolutely massive when they came out, and it's funny to think that these graphics were state-of-the-art on release.

For those musical trainspotters out there, the riff was based on a song back in the late seventies by a Pommie songwriter, Mike Batt called "Introduction (The Journey of a Fool"). He also created The Wombles!

  By the way, does anyone have a copy of the 1987 'EON FM' tv ad??? That's where I first saw Dr Dan, rising out of the waters of Port Phillip Bay in front of the Melbourne city skyline. That ad should be in the Triple M archives. I hope!

  Love the Hot Breakfast - you need to do an interview with the 'fat' guy from the old add in a 'where are they now' segment. Be interesting to see if he has trimmed down in his latter years.
