Sheeds Named Coach Of West Sydney Post by: Eddie McGuire 9 November, 2009 - 8:57 AM

Kevin Sheedy spoke to Eddie McGuire on Triple M's Hot Breakfast about his new job in West Sydney.

In a story reminiscent of Ron Barassi being put in charge of the Sydney Swans in the mid 80's, the AFL have announced that former Essendon master coach, Kevin Sheedy, will be in charge of the new Sydney West club.

Many Victorians might believe that Kevin has become a traitor. After not taking the main job at Richmond after 27 years as Essendon's coach, it is almost unbelievable to think that the great man will be helping an interstate club. let's face it, Kev isn't a young man, some of you might think he is past his prime.

Kevin Sheedy admits to Eddie that in the end at the Bombers he was flat.

Hear what Triple M listeners had to say.

Rugby League great Mark Geyer reckons it will take more than Sheedy to get it going in the West

We wish Sheeds all the best, he did all he could at the Bombers and was an absolute legend. It remains to be seen whether his age might be a barrier with the new young players.

Shame on you Kevin. In a year where the finals were at long last dominated by Victorian teams, the last thing we need to do is help the interstate teams more than we need to.

Yes I think Sheedy is too old to resume coaching. He should let a younger person do the job, we need more young ones who finished playing in the last 5 years or so.
