Was Richo The Greatest Tiger Ever? Post by: Eddie McGuire 13 November, 2009 - 8:17 AM
Matthew Richardson, the Richmond champion of 282 games over 17-seasons with the Tigers from 1993-09, has announced his retirement from AFL football.
Richo is an absolute legend loved by everyone, even footy fans who didn't follow the Black and Yellow.
Sometimes an enigma, but he always put in 100%. He kicked over 700 goals and was all heart for Tigers even when things weren't going their way.

My Daughters are distant relatives of Richo's and were hoping to get down to training and meet him this year, they are devastated, especially my middle daughter who adores him, His pasion for Richmond will be missed, there will never be another quite like the great man. Good luck in Retirement Richo!!!!

I was truly saddened by the news that not only Richmonds favourite son but the AFL's most loved player has called it quits. As a Tigers supporter I never wanted this day to come, but all good things must end and Richo is one of the greatest things to happen to our great club. All the best Richo you will be sorely missed!!

i am a Coll'wood supporter & my husband & young son are Tiger fans ... i am completely devasted by richo's retirement & was praying for him to go another year ... he was in my opinion the best TIGER player ever .. i loved to watch them because of Richo & would cheer for the tigers because of Richo ! ... such a passionate player you don't see much of that anymore, for someone to almost win the brownlow in 2008 in a team didn't make the eight is an acheivement itself ! ... Good Luck Richo we will ALL MISS YOU ;o(
