(Some photos courtesy of the yarrawongachronicle.com.au)Heavy rain has caused major flooding in the Victoria’s north east, with homes inundated in Tallygaroopna and Yarrawonga also soaked after copping more than 215 millimetres of rain in the past four days.
With more heavy rain expected on Saturday (around 100 millimetres is forecast to fall), the region will remain on high alert.
A Yarrawonga resident told Triple M on Friday the newer estates in the town are the most-affected by the heavy downpour and road routes to Cobram, Shepparton and Wangaratta have been cut off.
The SES had fielded close to 1,000 calls for assistance as of 8am on Friday with hundreds more expected.
