He gave it a crack!
After another bumper trade period wrapped up yesterday, Billy Brownless got the pen out and did some detailed analysis of the big winners and losers.
It's just not very good...
Speaking yesterday afternoon on The Rush Hour, here's what Bill took out of the last ten or so days - keeping in mind he could only be bothered to look at the Victorian clubs:
Nine Giants on their list. Kept Gibbs under sufferance. Was a 7, but because they’ve been mean to Gibbs they get a 5.
As long as they play all their footy in the forward line and midfield they’ll be fine, but if it goes down back they’ll leak like a sieve. 5.
Lost Piggy Hibberd. They’ve brought in James Stewart, Jobe Watson, Dyson Heppell and Co. Also kept the number 1 pick, they’ve done alright. 7.
Managed to keep Steven Motlop. 17 clubs wanted him! Well done, Cats. Solid as usual. 8.
Lost some experience here. Lost Mitchell, Lewis, Buddy, Peter Knights, Peter Hudson - they’ve all left. Long, long way til their first pick. But they’ve done OK. 7.
They lost Lynden Dunn - but they kept Hogan. That was the big one for them. Couple of mature boys here, Lewis and Hibberd will be good. They also got McKenna - don’t think it’s Peter. They’ve done well, the Dees. 8.
Lost Black and Wells - and Brayshaw! Which is a bloody good thing. Three picks inside 33. Were a 5, but cause they lost Brayshaw they get an 8 or a 9.
Lost Deledio - very, very good player. But I like who they’ve picked up. Caddy - very good midfielder. Prestia - very good midfielder. Not bad by the Tigers, slow early but come good. 7.
Haven’t lost anyone. Lots of big ins, and they’ve kept pick 23. They’ve done well, the Saints. They get an 8.
Lost a few players, but they get Cloke and Crameri next year. We’d forgotten about Crameri. First pick 18, they get a 6 or a 7. They’ve been alright.
WHO WON THE TRADE PERIOD
1. GWS - premiership favourites.
2. St Kilda - I really like what they’ve done.
Honourable mentions - the two Perth clubs. They’ve done well.
1. Adelaide - did nothing.
2. Port Adelaide - did nothing.
3. North Melbourne
