Is Lloyd Worth The Money? Posted by Jason Dunstall 23 July, 2009 - 5:35 PM

Ask The Chief

Tracey from Moorabbin asks:

Hey Jase,

Do you understand the current tribunal system? Because I dont, what happened to Zac Dawson is bewildering. You either take the AFL served medicine or get double slapped if you question it. Please explain?

Tracey,

I'm a bit like you, sometimes the decisions make absolutely no sense when you compare the crimes and penalties of one case to the next. Unfortunately the system allows for these sort of inconsistencies and we all have to live with them!!

Good luck with the Saints.

Chief.

Daniel from Melbourne asks:

Chief I have two questions,

First, Matthew Lloyd is the 3rd or 4th highest paid player in the competition currently at $800k, according to the write up in the Herald Sun earlier this year. With a lousy 33 goals, he hasn’t had one outstanding performance this year. Would you really want him in your side at that value? (a waste of space)

and

Ben Cousins has played some good footy in recent weeks. He’s in his last few seasons of footy, having only a 1 year contract with the tigers. They look like they’re not going anywhere in the next few years. Do you think it’s possible he could be picked up by another team at the end of this season where he would want to play in a last premiership? If so, do you think the Bombers are any chance with their building team?

Daniel,

Matthew Lloyd has often been asked to play a different role (further up the ground) than usual as a result of the changing nature of the game. We must also remember he finished second in the Bombers B&F last season doing much the same. Having said that, you would certainly want a player on that sort of wage having a much greater influence on matches than he has had this year.

Ben Cousins won't go anywhere else as Richmond were the only club to throw him a lifeline and he will finish his career with the Tigers.

Cheers Chief.

Shane from Kyneton asks:

If Bucks gets the job with the Roos and Carey is accepted back as an asst coach - will they be a dynamic duo or an ongoing dilemma?

Shane,

I couldn,t imagine Wayne Carey accepting (or seeking) an assistant coaching position. He may help in a specialist position but make no mistake, if Nathan Buckley coaches North he will be the only one steering the ship.

Cheers Chief.
