Geelong ruckman/forward Nathan Vardy has requested to be traded to West Coast.

Port Adelaide were also reportedly interested in the big Cat but he has chosen the Eagles as his preferred destination.

A damaging player when fully fit, Vardy has been restricted to just 25 games in seven injury-ravaged seasons at Simonds Stadium.

If he gets his body right, the talented 25-year-old could serve as a handy replacement for Nic Naitanui who will miss most of the 2017 season due to a knee reconstruction.

Vardy was originally selected at pick No.42 in the 2009 AFL draft.
