AFLCA Chief Executive Danny Frawley Says Ken Hinkley Would Be A Good Fit As St Kilda Coach Post by: The Learned One 20 September, 2011 - 5:34 PM

AFL Coaches Association chief executive Danny Frawley has told Triple M’s Rush Hour that he would like to see Gold Coast assistant Ken Hinkley replace Ross Lyon as St Kilda coach.
The Saints have been left reeling since Lyon sensationally defected to the Dockers last week to become their senior coach.
Hinkley, who played 132 matches for Geelong and Fitzroy, has previously been an assistant coach at St Kilda and Geelong as well.
“Ken Hinkley three years ago was the leading assistant at Geelong,” Spud told Triple M’s Rush Hour.
“(He) missed out by a ‘poofteenth’ (to become senior coach) at Richmond (in 2009).”
“(Tigers football manager) Craig Cameron basically said Ken Hinkley went extremely well (in the interview process) and then he went up to Gold Coast – out of sight, out mind.”
“I think he’d probably be a good fit for my old club.”
Spud said that Hinkley wouldn’t be hampered by the fact that he was a member of Malcom Blight’s staff during the two-time premiership coach’s ill-fated stint at the Saints in 2001.
Carlton assistant Alan Richardson would also be a good candidate to take over the Saints, according to Spud.
Would Hinkley be a good fit for St Kilda?
