North Melbourne Chairman James Brayshaw has explained that it wasn't for financial reasons the Roos didn't appeal Jack Ziebell's four-match suspension.

Brayshaw told his Triple M Rush Hour listeners the club was told by its legal people there was no new argument they could make that hasn't already been stated.

Ziebell's three-match ban became four when the club lost its appeal at the AFL Tribunal on Wednesday night.

In a fascinating Midweek Rub, Damian Barrett also put to Brayshaw that North is incensed by the information Carlton submitted in relation to the Ziebell case, where the North midfielder collided with Blues tagger Aaron Jospeh.

"This (Match Review Panel) system is disintegrating as we speak. It's almost irrelevant the way the game's being played now," said Barrett.

Brayshaw, Billy Brownless and Danny Frawley also had some strong views on the Ziebell case, and Chris Judd's four-match ban for the now infamous 'chicken wing' tackle from the same fiery game last Friday night between Carlton and North.
