REPORT: The much-hyped clash between ex-AFL stars Barry Hall and Brendan Fevola attracted around 6,000 fans to Hall's home ground in Wangaratta on Sunday.

Hall, playing his first game for Wangaratta Rovers, was rusty early but managed to kick four goals while Fev matched that at the other end for Yarrawonga (which won by 19 points).

Another former AFL player, Craig Ednie, starred for the Pigeons and overshadowed his higher-profile team-mate and Hall.

Fevola, who had to successfully appeal a suspension on the Friday before the game in order to play, was also lucky not to be knocked out when he collided with a goal-post in the second term.

It took him several minutes to shake it off and he's since tweeted that he's sore in the aftermath.

Fev has now booted 70 goals for the Pigeons, which sit atop the Ovens And Murray ladder.

Hall, who admitted to being a bit rusty, has signed up to play another three games for Rovers this year and will play in finals if the team qualifies.
