Bathurst is Australia's oldest inland town, it's also where you will find Mount Panorama, the place where the biggest car racing event of the year takes place.
It's the premiere V8 race that seperates the real drivers and vehicles in Australian racing. This is where the whole Holden versus Ford thing really got up and running. The Bathurst 1000, as the name suggests, is run over 1000 kilometres. Hell Corner, Mountain Straight and Forest Elbow are all well known landmarks in the journey around the track. The winner now recieves the Peter Brock Cup trophy names after the legend, the man who won the race an amazing nine times.

1. Lowndes Versus Flying Wheel
There's some hazards when your racing on a real mountain, low hanging branches, jumping kangaroos, falling rocks and... a massive fat wheel coming towards your windscreen.
2. Flag Fall From 1979
Ah, these were the days, check out some classic cars from a time almost
forgotten. Weirdly, a Celica looks so out of the place on the mountain
race track. Check out the primitive on dash in-car camera.
3.Jim Richards Lets Loose
This would never happen today. The turning on a local icon might, but the bit where Jim Richards gives it back to the crowd is absolutely priceless.
4. Richards versus Kangaroo
The Richards/Richards car and a kangaroo have a a bit of push and shove on one of the mountains bends, actually it's all push from the car.
5. Crash Compilation
We love a compile of different stacks and crashes, here's some from back in the days when the cars really were straight off the factory floor and not made of plastic and aluminium.

I sill remember as young bloke watching Alan Moffat racing around in a RX7, i dont think i ever realised how long the race was. You'd get up and start watching it, go to your Grandparents for a sunday roast and then watch the rest of the race when you got home. That was back in the super tourers before it became a V8 event. They were the days.

My two most memorable Bathurst moments are firstly back in 1987 and Peter Perfect absolutely gassing it out of pit lane (I think it was his last stop) fishying in the wet. Secondly was back in 1992, Gentleman Jim giving the booing crowd a spray of wisdom and beside him what looked like a 12 year old boy in Mark Skaife.

1. brocky's '79 flag to flag win where he lead every lap of the race set the lap record on the last lap and won by an amazing 6 laps!!
2. Brock's '87 win where we basically held an absolute chunka together and the last 10 laps of that race are in my opinion the best laps ever turned on that track.
3 . dick johnson 81 win where he ame back from a right off with the 'rock the year before to win the shortened event
4. larry perkins 95 win from last to first absolutley unbelieveable best bathurst except this years
5. the whole 2009 race was awesome and a HRT commodore won making it even better -

My most memorable Bathurst moment was in 1994, when Lowndes past Bowe in the closing laps of the race, just to lose the lead a lap later when a privateer VL cut across the both of them entering pit straight.
