Watson Fined For Aggressive Send Off Post by: Triple M Cricket 21 December, 2009 - 10:11 AM

The bad boys of Australian cricket were on display during the Third and final Test against the West Indies. The team ended up winning by 35 runs, but it was their on-field bad behaviour that has got the headlines.

Shane Watson's antics reminded us of that spoiled brat in U'14s cricket who would crack it if he went out in the first over or wouldn't get a bowl. As you can see in the video his celebrations on gettinig Gayle's wicket were way over the top.

Chris Gayle played down that incident but though that Mitchell Johnson should have been suspended for his mid-pitch tussle with Suliemann Benn earlier in the match. Brad Haddin, Shane Watson and Johnson all faced the match commitee over their discretions during the five days.

Captain Ricky Ponting says that the players all feel a bit embarassed about their behaviour, now that's an understatement. Fining these high wage earners doesn't really curb their attitude, so maybe, like you would in U'14 cricket,  they should have to apologise in front of the team, but make them do it on national TV.

Shane Watson was fined 15 percent of match payment. Was it enough?

How embarassing! We made fun of the Windies when they got here about how inexperienced and under done they were. They nearly beat us and our players start acting like that. Johnson and Watson should lose all match payment and get suspended for the next round of matches.

Aussies are turning into such bad sports. Every time we don't get our way we lose our mind and rant and rave and carry on. My 13 year old has better cricket ettiquette.

Grow up Watson...be proffesional about he game, not a clown...remember, kids look up to you guys and try to be exactly like you, so have a think. In years to come when you have retired and sitting there in the grandstand and see this behavour, will you put your hand up and say "I set the standard for this?"
