Timana Tahu has asked to play for New South Wales again, less than two years after walking out of Origin camp over Andrew Johns' racist comments.
"I have spoken to him about it, yes, and he has told me that he'd love to play for NSW and Australia again," his coach Wayne Bennett told the Daily Telegraph this week.
The Grill Team's own Origin legend Mark "MG" Geyer and fellow NRL icon Matty Johns are divided on his chances to rejoin the team.
"Don't forget he walked out on league, before that. He went to union, then he waltzed back in, went straight into the State Of Origin," Geyer said on Triple M this morning.
"Then, for his own reasons, left the camp because he had a bone to pick, something was said. All power to him, he stuck to his convictions," Geyer continued.
"As far as I'm concerned, he should never be allowed to play in a blues jersey again. He's forfeited every right to play. Once he's walked out of camp, see ya later buddy," Geyer added with conviction.
"If Timana can return to his best form, I have no problem with him coming back," Matty Johns countered.
"Look, Timana's got all the ability in the world. He's a damaging defender, dynamic on those kick returns," Johns continued.
"Timana needs to master himself. And Wayne Bennett can help him do that," Johns concluded.
"He's 31, I'd prefer to give a 19 year old a go," Geyer fired back.
