Maroon's Season Predictions
It's hard to see past Melbourne winning back-to-back premierships. Or so says Maroon, lead caller with the Monday Night Footy team. But then again, he reckons the Rabbitohs are certainies for a top four spot.
He's predicted Cooper Cronk to close in on Thurston's QLD jersey and the Sharks to crack the eight.
Top Eight Predictions:
1. Storm
2. Cowboys
3. Eels
4. Rabbitohs
5. Sharks
6. Sea Eagles
7. Warriors
8. Roosters
One to watch (who will be the stand-out player this season?): Cooper Cronk (Storm)
Favourite player in league history: Terry Fahey aka The Redfern Express
Broncos: David Taylor was one of the great players of 2007 but I see the Broncos staying about the same for 2008.
Star rating: 3 (out of five)
Bulldogs: How filthy would you be if you supported the Dogs? They've lost 'Shrek' and 'Willy'. I have supported rugby league for 35 years and the Dogs are never out of the limelight for long. Just watch these guys rebuild.
Star rating: 3
Cowboys: I love them, especially big 'Charlie Webb', Matt Bowen and Johnathon Thurston. The Cowboys have some big 'boppers' and flair in attack. They will be top 4.
Star rating: 4
Dragons: Gee, they are a disappointment. Regardless of injuries they are entitled to do better. It's sad there are so many Dragon and Illawarra juniors playing for other clubs. They will struggle.
Star rating: 2
Eels: I would feel more confident if Tim Smith was in the right headspace, but definitely mid to high top 8.
Star rating: 4
Knights: It's a re-building time. Buderus and Gidley will be busy boys.
Star rating: 3
Panthers: They will struggle to stay off the bottom.
Star rating: 2
Rabbitohs: Watch these guys go. It's like they have two new recruits - obviously Craig Wing but remember David Kidwell hardly played a game in 2007. They will be top 4.
Star rating: 4

Raiders: They will have a decent 'crack' and are dangerous at home, but they'll be flat-out making the top 12.
Star rating: 2
Roosters: Haven't they recruited well? with 'Willy', 'Shrek' and 'Freddie' Fittler as coach, something tells me they are on the way back.
Star rating: 3
Sea Eagles: They'll miss Michael Monaghan but they are well-oiled machine and well coached. Look for them in the finals.
Star rating: 4
Sharks: 2007's sleeping giant. They have 3 things in their favour - Greg Bird, Paul Gallen and Ricky Stuart.
Star rating: 3
Storm: These guys are still the benchmark. You would have to think back to back premierships.
Star rating: 5
Titans: These guys will do it tougher this year. Hopefully Ash Harrison will have an impact. Good honest side that will have a go.
Star rating: 3
Warriors: These guys could do anything. They are well coached and showed promise in 2007 but they're not premiership material.
Star rating: 4
Wests Tigers: Perhaps top 8. perhaps. Lets hope Benji Marshall has a big year.
Star rating: 3
