Meet The Hamdog

What an invention! Question is, where to get our hands on one?

An Aussie genius is about to take over the world with the next big thing in fast food.

Introducing, the Hamdog. A beautiful union of delicious hamburger and mouth-watering hot dog, all the way from WA.

Utter brilliance.

Better yet, the creator of the Hamdog, Mark Murray, has successfully secured a US patent for the "combination hamburger hot dog bread bun", back in 2009.

That's forward thinking right there.

The Hamdog consists of a beef patty cut in half, with a frankfurt inserted in the middle. It's topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles and three sauces - American mustard, tomato sauce and mayonnaise.

All this for a paltry $8.

Mark Murray has the buns specially made in a Perth bakery, although from all accounts it's a labour intesive process. So he's looking at ways to improve the process.

Melbourne Restaurant Wins World’s Best Paella Competition


A Melbourne restaurant has come out on top in the 56th Concurso Internacional de Paella Valenciana (Valencia International Paella Competition)!

South Melbourne restaurant 'Simply Spanish' was awarded the Best Paella from a chef outside of Spain at the competition in Sueca near Valencia.

37 restaurants from the four corners of the planet participated this year to get take the title.

Simply Spanish is located on the Cecil St side of the South Melbourne market.

KFC Secret Herbs & Spices Recipe Revealed


One of the world’s biggest culinary secrets has apparently been exposed - The 11 secret herbs and spices that made Kentucky Fried Chicken such a winner around the world.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the secret recipe was discovered by Colonel Harland Sanders' nephew, Joe Ledington of Kentucky, in a scrapbook belonging to his aunt Claudia, who was Sanders' second wife.

Check out the recipe below… and it’s understood the Ts stand for tablespoons.

The Tradie Diet By Adam MacDougall

Adam MacDougall and The Man Shake share the plan that works and still lets you have a beer or three

Chocolate milk and a pie for every meal is often called a ‘tradie diet’. It’s a diet that’ll see you joining two tool belts together to make one that fits around your gut.

Here are the rules for my Tradie Diet:

  1. Have a high protein breakfast like The Man Shake.
  2. Snack healthy - cans of tuna or salmon are great.
  3. In the drive thru, choose the healthy options!
  4. Diet right and you can still enjoy a cold beer at the end of a hard day.
  5. The best diet is the one you stick to. Find something that works for you and commit!

They’re the basic rules. Here’s how you can follow them every day.


Blokes need a high protein, low sugar breakfast - like eggs on wholemeal toast or The Man Shake for all the protein, vitamins and minerals you need to kick-start your day.  

Cereal is the worst as it’s mainly carbs and sugar. If you must, go 2 weetbix with 200g low sugar yoghurt.



Choose something with protein that’s low in sugar - like a can of tuna or a greek yoghurt.



A takeaway sandwich could be what you need. Grab one with meat – like ham, turkey or chicken breast - and minimal sauce (or the Man Shake).



A handful of nuts and a piece of fruit are perfect. They’re low in sugar with plenty of protein.



Grilled meat and steamed veggies. Yeah, it’s boring but you need your veggies!


That’s a pretty simple diet to stick to, especially if The Man Shake is part of it. Put your health first and see the difference.

The LuWOW Is Closing For Good

Time Out report that the bar will say its final goodbyes at Christmas time.

Melbourne Burger Joint Offering Free Burgers FOR LIFE


Popular Melbourne burger joint Mr Burger wants to give people free burgers for life.

Although, there is one serious catch…

The person must be willing to legally change their last name to Burger!

If they do they will be entitled to a burger a day for the rest of their life (or for as long as you retain the last name ‘Burger’).

To enter, you must:

• Change your last name to “Burger” via this application form.

• Send the Mr Burger team an email with a copy of the name-change confirmation from the Australian Government by July 31.

Mr Burger will also cover the change-of-name fee ($101.40) for anyone who actually goes through with it. There’s no cap on the number of winners.

Melbourne Restaurant Ranked In World's Top 50

Australia's Best Restaurant Revealed

Attica in Ripponlea, Melbourne has been ranked in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants at a New York awards ceremony today.

Attica, now owned by New Zealander Ben Shewry after ten years working in its kitchen, appears in the world famous list of the best places to eat on Earth for the fourth consecutive year. It slips one place from its 32nd placed ranking in 2015, but still makes it the highest placed restaurant in Australia.

Congratulations Ben and the Attica team on doing Australia – and Ripponlea – proud.

Melbourne Is Getting Its Own Jack Daniel's Bar

Get excited Jack Daniel's fans.

Melbourne will be home to its very own barrel house as part of the 150th anniversary of the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

The Jack Daniel’s Barrel House will be built on Melbourne’s Southbank and will be open from June 24 to July 3.

In the image above you can see how the bar is going to look, if you aren't going to Tennessee anytime soon this is the next best thing!

A team of Australia’s finest “mixologists” will be preparing signature serves including the iconic Lynchburg Lemonade.

Triple M favourites Kingswood will be performing at the bar on Friday the 24th which is sure to be epic night!



Of course, if you make it down to the Barrel House remember to drink responsibly.
