Sacha Baron Cohen playing the iconic Freddie Mercury... It's a match made in heaven.

Not only is there an undeniable likeness between the two, but Cohen is exactly the type of actor that would have been able to capture the rock star's enigmatic and wild personality.

Unfortunately, however, that was not how Queen saw it playing out.

Speaking to Howard Stern, the Borat actor said he had creative differences with the band in the three-year development of the film - notably, Queen wanting to 'tone down' Mercury's wilder exploits.

They also suggested they would show the death of the frontman in the middle of the film:

"I go 'oh right, so you mean it's a bit like Pulp Fiction? Like, the end is the middle, the middle is the end.' I go, 'alright, that's really, that's a wild movie. Alright, that's interesting, I never thought about it that way.'"

"He goes 'oh no, normal movie... in the second half of the movie we, you know, see how the band carries on from strength to strength.'"
