Triple M's Damian Barrett believes "as many as 10" Gold Coast players are currently up for discussion on the trade table.

Barrett rattled off a few names who have been notified they will be floated around in the trade period, including important midfielder Aaron Hall and key defender Rory Thompson.

"They've told at least half a dozen players and quite possibly as many as 10, who are either contracted or uncontracted, that they will be talking about them potentially in the upcoming trade period," he said on Triple M's Friday Huddle.

"It's an unusual step, clubs don't telegraph it as they appear to have done."

Barrett ran through a few names he'd managed to uncover.

"The names that I've managed to get are some obvious candidates that have been around for a while in this space, they being (Brandon) Matera, (Trent) McKenzie. (Matt) Shaw will be another," he told Triple M.

"Rory Thompson's an interesting one. A couple of years ago, he looked the goods. (He) is contracted for another two years, but is aware the club will be taking conversations about him, and he is open to that possibility.

"(Tom) Nicholls...also Aaron Hall. I haven't been able to get to the bottom of this, but Aaron Hall, whose form has wavered at various times, looks a world beater sometimes...he also could be gettable for a club that wants to come to the Suns with the right offer.

"They're certainly looking at it, and not just players who are out of contract."
